Weekly Devotional: Return Good for Evil

I bet if someone slapped you or punched you, you would do the same back. Why? It is something called revenge. But did you know that the Bible does not encourage this type of behavior? You shouldn’t take revenge. You may ask what you should do then because you can’t take revenge. Well the Bible says to return good for evil.

Exodus 14:14
The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace

Matthew 5:39
But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

Matthew 5:44
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you

Romans 12:21
Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

1 Peter 3:9
Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.

I hope that instead of getting in an old-fashioned schoolyard brawl, you will talk to each other and resolve the problem peacefully. And maybe even return some good for evil.
